Robert's obituary

Robert Neil Walters (Skip) 92, passed away on October 16th, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and pastor in the comfort of his home. Skip was a US Navy, Korean War Veteran and supported Operation Ivy, the first H-Bomb test. After 4 years of service, Skip started a career with the telephone company where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1990.

Skip was a longtime resident of Brick Township, New Jersey. He was a member of the Jr. Sports League, Telephone Pioneers and VFW. Skip was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Laurelton for over 50 years. He will be remembered for his dedication to serving the church, community and others in many capacities. He enjoyed playing games, cracking jokes, spending time with family and friends and traveling, especially to Anna Maria Island, Florida.

Skip was a devoted, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 69 years, Sheila Walters, son Robert Walters Jr., daughter Karen Walters and Bob Seville, granddaughters Heather Walters, Laura Stephenson and her husband Josh, Morgan Runk and Breonna Runk, and four great-granddaughters. His charming and witty personality, love of popcorn and candy, and his big heart will be remembered by all of us.

Skip’s memorial service will be on Friday November 1st at the First Baptist Church of Laurelton. There will be a visitation from 10-11am, immediately followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Laurelton, 1824 RT. 88, Brick, NJ 08724.
