Robert's obituary
Robert "Bobby" Neel Sr., age 77, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away on April 30, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was the husband of Durenda "Vicki" Neel. They shared 57 years of marriage together and had two daughters, Bobbi and Victoria, and a son, Robert "Robbie" Neel Jr.
Born in Decatur, Texas, he was the son of Earl "Bud" and Frances "Wally" Neel. He graduated from S. H. Rider High School in 1965. He attended Midwestern State University and the IBEW Apprenticeship School where he became a Journeyman Inside Wireman and eventually taught at the school. Bobby worked as an electrician for various companies in Wichita Falls which sent him to other jobs around the United States. Companies he worked for included Delphi in Wichita Falls and the General Motors plant in Arlington, Texas working as a robotic maintenance electrician.
Bobby showed an interest in many subjects from science and history to a love of many plants including orchids, African violets, and bonsai trees. He was a true Potterhead, having read the series and watched all the movies multiple times. Bobby also loved vintage cars. He remodeled a 1946 Ford 5-window and loved attending many car shows. Bobby also loved taking all of his children and grandchildren on joy rides.
Preceding him in death were his parents Earl "Bud" and Frances "Wally" Neel; his sister Patti Johnson; and his son Robert "Robbie" Neel Jr. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Durenda "Vickie", his beloved dog Cleo; his daughter Victoria and husband James O'Neal; and his daughter Bobbi and husband Butch Layfield. He is survived by his sister, Barbara DeCorte; grandchildren Cassie Owen, Mia and Ami Neel, and Nic and Maddie Kiser; great-grandchildren Cayenne Garza, Mackenzie and Zane Owen, Jackson Kiser, and soon to be born great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
After cremation, a memorial service or celebration of life may follow. Details are still in the works.
