Robert Milton Lewis, Jr., MD, JD
Robert (Rob) Lewis, 69, passed away on July 28, 2023 while on vacation with his family in Roatan, a small island off the coast of Honduras.
He was born in February 1, 1954 in New York City to Robert and Joan Lewis. The family moved to California a year after Rob’s birth. Rob enjoyed California life with his two siblings, Jill Arechiga and Brad Lewis.
He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California and was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. Rob later went on to obtain his law degree from Concord Law School. He served on the American Board of Forensic Medicine and went on to serve as an expert medical witness in several cases. He recently worked as an Emergency Department Physician at University of North Carolina in Kinston, North Carolina. Rob also was currently serving as the Collaborating Medical Doctor at the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center located on the base of Fort Pickett in Blackstone, Virginia.
Rob was an incredible physician who helped heal and support many patients throughout his career as an emergency physician. Along with taking care of patients, Rob was the type of guy who inspired future young adults aspiring to become physicians. His ability to connect with all he came in contact with was truly heart warming. His keen interest in others was evident by the countless stories shared by those he encouraged throughout his life. Recently, a young lady who worked the front desk at a hotel shared with Rob’s wife that Rob encouraged her to go back to school to become a physician assistant. Rob connected with all people and found ways to bring out their potential.
Rob had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor He was generous, loyal, clever, and creative. His incredible breadth of knowledge kept all entertained and astounded. If he didn’t know the answer to something, he spent hours researching due to his thirst for answers. Rob’s wide range of interests and knowledge were gained through all of his life experiences which included: airplane pilot, motorcycle (super bikes) racing, scuba diver, expert welder, cyclist, and an all-around creative handyman. If he didn’t know how to do something, he researched and became the best at that particular craft.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda Sue (Beers) Lewis; his two children, Matthew Wagner and Megan Wagner; three grandchildren, Reese, Brantley, and Bodhi; his brother, Brad Lewis and his children, Jackson Lewis and Ella Lewis; sister, Jill Arechiga and her children, Abbey Rua and Evan Areghiga.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them and will be missed beyond measure.
Donations for Rob’s cremation and other expenses are greatly appreciated.
