Bob's obituary

Robert Eugene McElhaney Sr. age 81, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Broken Arrow Oklahoma after a long battle with Chronic Kidney Disease.  He was born on May 20, 1943, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Otis Edward McElhaney and Gladys Carter McElhaney.

Bob was the seventh of eight children in his family. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, papa, uncle and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Donna Sue (Heilig) McElhaney. He leaves behind his children, Stacy Jean Selman, Robert Eugene McElhaney Jr. and his wife Elida, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren: Candace McElhaney-Johnson with husband Gary, Shane Selman and wife Sara Baysinger, Toni McElhaney-Watkins and husband Cody, Kristi Selman, Triny Willis, and Tina Joseph. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Mason, Alexandra, Jade, Amara, and Jacoby.

Bob is also survived by his brother, Otis Edward McElhaney Jr., and his sister, Wanda McElhaney Beattie as well as several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Gladys McElhaney; his brothers, Lee Roy McElhaney and John Richard McElhaney; and his sisters, Glynn Dean McElhaney Spangenberg, Patsy McElhaney Stem, and Margaret McElhaney Younger as well as great granddaughter Tinley Jean Watkins. 

A memorial service to honor Bob's life will be held on Saturday August 17th at 11:00am at Southern Hills Baptist Church. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating his life and sharing their memories.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
