Rob's obituary
Robert Allan Matevish, 71, passed away on November 12, 2024, in San Francisco, CA, due to complications following liver transplant for acute liver failure in March 2024. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, to John Evans Matevish and Kathryn Marie Matevish, Rob pursued a degree in political science from Slippery Rock University, an interest that remained with him throughout his life. He subsequently earned his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Early in his career, Rob taught high school and worked in a community care home for the developmentally disabled before moving into healthcare logistics. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, he worked his way from cutting boxes in a warehouse to managing logistics for one of the largest health systems in the country, leaving a meaningful impact on those he worked with. Rob was well-regarded for his steady, reliable approach and earned the respect of his colleagues as both a mentor and friend.
Rob had three children, Alex, Kelsey, and Lauren Matevish, with his former spouse, Jona Matevish. His family was one of his greatest prides in life; he was always the first to suggest a family photo and religiously sent out detailed family updates in his annual Christmas card. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Elise; siblings, Darryl Matevish and Donna Villegas; and his niece and nephew, Brittany Poole and Andres Villegas. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ronald Matevish.
In his free time, Rob enjoyed playing golf and had long hoped to visit Scotland to play the Old Course at St. Andrews. Although he was ultimately unable to make the trip, he valued the time he spent on the golf course with friends and family.
Rob will be remembered fondly by family, friends, and former colleagues. In memory of his time in community care, his designated charity is the Learning Disabilities Foundation of America (https://www.paypal.com/donate…)
