Robert's obituary
Bobby is predeceased by his Father, Harvey Keneth Mashewske; Mother, Norma Jane New; Brother, William R (Bill) Mashewske; and Daughter, Annielle Kolackovsky-Mashewske.
Bobby’s life was never easy, and he knew hard times from a young age when he lost his Mother at age 8 and then his Father at age 14. After graduating from Spencer Van Etten High School, he left New York to find his way in Florida with his Step Brother Jim. After falling on hard times when his Step Brother abandoned him in Daytona Beach Florida he found himself working construction and ultimately learning to be a plumber. He eventually made his way back to New York where he met his ex-wife Susan Kolackovsky. While married to Sue the couple made their way to Texas to make a life together. Being a plumber by trade Bobby started his own business; Primed Plumbing Company in Pflugerville, Texas. Bobby and Sue welcomed a baby girl Annielle in July of 1985. Tragically Annielle passed away at 10 days old. After Annielle’s passing Bobby and Sue separated and eventually divorced. In 1989 after having strange chronic health symptoms Bobby was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He dissolved his business and moved back to New York to be closer to his Brother Bill Mashewske as his health declined. Bobby spent the next 29 years in Spencer NY as a tenant of Bill Miller on Van Etten Road as he persevered through his life with MS. Bill Miller and his wife Grace always treated Bobby like a son and were always looking after him.
Bobby loved the outdoors including fishing and hunting. He served as the Treasurer and Secretary for the Spencer Van Etten Sportsman Association. As his health declined and MS hindered his abilities to walk, talk, write and lead a “regular” life Bobby became more and more reclusive. He gradually stopped hunting, fishing and even leaving his home. The internet and his computer became his only outlet to the world.
Through all the hardships of his life Bobby never complained and never gave up. He rarely asked for help with anything and was reluctant to accept help even when it was offered. He was a meek and humble man who never wanted to bother anyone with his problems.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 19th, 2019 at the North Spencer Baptist Church at 721 Ithaca Rd, Spencer, NY 14883. Calling hours will be held from 11am-12pm, Memorial service at 12 pm, and a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery Spencer, NY will follow the memorial.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bobby’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or a reputable MS charity of your choice.
