New to Texas, I met "Snake" for the very first time at an Arlington Chamber of Commerce event in 1986. Very tall, engaging, welcoming man that set the tone of the room...everyone have fun! Little did I know that I would meet his beautiful daughter Lisa and her son Jamaal living in the same apartment complex. We have been life long friends for almost 40 years! Snake was always the kind person I first met, at every family function I attended!
My heart goes out to sweet Gloria, Lisa and the LeGrand family đź’” What a legacy he leaves to you all!

Please know that my heart is with you and the family during this time.

Snake was always very kind to me—every time I saw him, he greeted me with warmth and that unmistakable sense of humor that made everyone laugh. He had a way of making you feel welcome and putting a smile on your face without even trying. I will always be grateful for those few moments of joy he shared so generously.

May you find peace and strength in this promise:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

– Psalm 34:18

Snake was a joy to travel with on basketball trips and he knew the best eating places in everywhere we played games. I never got tired of listening to his matchups with the rival coaches. Thanks for great times and memorable pre game interviews. John Nelson
