Robert's obituary
Robert Lawson- Some Thoughts About His Life
Bob was in academics throughout a long, productive life. We met at Indiana University, where we danced at a mixer. He asked me out, but could I wait for him to finish his job? Later I learned his summer job was taking care of the rat lab. That was a formative experience, because it was 1968 and Psychology was at a crossroads; Should we keep the rats as a stand-in for people, or observe human behavior directly? Bob chose to study, write, and teach as one of a new breed of psychologists. He brought this new, more human point of view to Psychology and later to Business departments. After retiring from William Paterson University he was an Adjunct Professor at NMSU where he fell in love with New Mexico and told me we should retire here. And we were glad we did.
