Robert's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Lamar on July 30, 2023. Bob, was born on November 21, 1941. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on through his loved ones and his valuable life lessons.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Beth and Robin Lamar, and his grandchildren Brooklynn Ann Sullivan, Mariah Cristien Sullivan, Danny Lamar, and Cara Lamar. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lamar. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Eugene Lamar, along with his siblings Deloris, Don, Richard, Leroy, Ed, and Elmer Lamar.
In 1959, Robert graduated from Jefferson High School located on North Kerby Avenue in Portland, Oregon. He then embarked on a fulfilling career and eventually retired in 1998 from Teamsters Local 162 Truck Drivers Union, exemplifying his hardworking nature and dedication up until the end.
Robert was a man of few words but was known for his sagacity. Despite his firmness and stubbornness, he was full of wisdom. He had his own unique way of perceiving life and always had catchy phrases for every situation, such as "Take care of biz Liz", "slow and steady wins the race", "a fool and their money is soon parted" and "talk is cheap". These nuggets of wisdom remain as a testament to his unique personality.
Robert was also fond of Johnny Cash's music and enjoyed playing 9-ball pool. He had a very distinctive laugh and often found humor in his own jokes. His greatest pride lay in his two beautiful daughters and raising his daughter, Bethann, single-handedly. These achievements are among the many that characterize Robert's extraordinary life.
Robert's legacy will endure through his work ethic. He was a hard worker and continued to work until his last days. His family and friends will forever remember him as a man full of wisdom, with a zest for life and a unique sense of humor. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but the love and memories he left behind will forever be treasured.
