Bob/Bobby K's obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Robert "Bob/Bobby K" Kammer, a remarkable man known for his nurturing spirit and tenacity for life, who left us on November 25, 2025.

Robert, who was known to many as Bob or Bobby K, was born in the year of 1949, and spent his life cultivating a legacy rooted in kindness, nourishment, and joyful music. Bob enjoyed a long career as a teacher at Ledyard Elementary School from 1971 - 2009 and left a huge impact on many students and his colleagues. He was a community man with a lifelong thirst for knowledge, and a heart filled with kindness. His passion for nature was equal only to his passion for the kitchen, where he was often found creating culinary magic to share with those he loved. Bobby's love for music was infectious, and he generously passed on this love, along with countless life lessons, to those around him.

Among his teachings were nuggets of wisdom such as "you are where you are," emphasizing the importance of being present in any given moment. He encouraged through his actions to never stop exploring passions, to continue learning, to take on new experiences, and to always be there for others when needed. It was by these principles that Bob lived his life to the fullest, continuously stepping out for new adventures and being the reliable pillar for those in need.

His legacy is not just a legacy of kindness, but one of nurturing. He believed in feeding people not just with food, but also with music and joy. These are the seeds he planted in the hearts of those he left behind, blooming into a forest of love and respect that will continue to grow.

Robert is survived by his son Jon Kammer and grandchildren Kai and Neena Kammer, his daughter Laurie Aman, and his sister Deborah Kammer. His impact on their lives is immeasurable and his spirit will forever live through his loved ones and those he touched.

As we remember Bobby, we are reminded of his passion, kindness, and his never-ending love for his community. His light will forever shine in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
