Bob and I followed each other to many different companies starting in 1990 at Candid Logic, and ending at Jabil. He and I always were on a winning team. He will be missed and very sorry for his loss. Condolences to all of his family and friends.
Deepest Sympathy to Bobs family. I met Bob back at Visteon in 2001 when he was my boss for a couple years. We remained good friends after Bob left Visteon. Many get togethers for Beer sampling. By chance, Bob and I and our boys spent about a week together at Medicine Mt Boy Scout Camp. Past 10 years or so I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Bob’s son Rob. I think the 3 of us met up for beer one time a while ago. Was looking forward to more gatherings. Bob was a positive influence in my life and had so much presence. I’m thankful I got to know him, but he was taken too soon. Thoughts and Prayers to my good friend Rob and all the Hoffman Family.
Bob had such a big presence during family events, even when he was quiet. I always gravitated towards him, craving a discussion about the things he loved. Bryce celebrated his life with a scotch, a cigar, and spinning some classic rock records. There is a lot of life to celebrate, and I’m so grateful I got to be a small part of it.
I met Bob when he hired me back into Jabil (Auburn Hills, MI) in 2006. He had a reputation for being tough to work for, but I found him to be fair, extremely intelligent and a great mentor. I worked for Bob for a couple of years there prior to the company re-organizing and Bob moving down to St. Petersburg FL. I eventually relocated to St. Petersburg myself and spent some good years working for him while he was the Director of Engineering.
He ended up becoming a very good friend of mine. We spent many hours brewing beer together in his garage in Palmetto Florida. We also spent quite a bit of time enjoying the taste of the beer we created. I appreciated Bob and all his handy man skills. He built a 'fermenting room' in his garage so our beer would not rot as it needed to stay at a constant temperature. Bob was meticulous with the details and did a great job making our brewing process seamless. This helped us to create some very tasty recipes.
I loved the time I was able to spend with Bob and will miss him dearly. I love you Bob and know you are resting peacefully.
I worked with Bob for many years in Michigan and Florida— and that’s how we became friends. At Jabil Bob grew from managing a small group of engineers to directing a large global team. He was highly effective a pleasure to work with.
As with many great work relationships, personal relationships grow. Groups would gather after work to sample great beer and share life. The first time I met Julia was at such an event. I remember hearing how Bob and Julia met—I’ll leave that heartwarming story for somebody else to tell.
I’ll miss you Bob. Brew up a heavenly batch and I’ll catch ya on the flip side….
