Rob's obituary
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Robert “Rob” James Stiles, a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, who left this world far too soon. Rob passed away peacefully on July 8th 2025 at the age of 55, surrounded by many loved ones.
Rob lived a life defined by love, loyalty, and a strength that touched everyone who knew him. He was a loving husband, and a father not only by blood, but by choice—stepping into the role of a stepfather with open arms and an open heart. To his granddaughters, he was simply Papa, a title he wore with pride and joy. Whether he was singing silly songs with them, telling stories, or sharing quiet moments on the deck, Rob’s love for his family was constant and deep.
He enjoyed adventures big and small.
Rob found joy in experiencing the world alongside those he loved. For him, it was never about the destination—it was about time together, laughter, and lasting memories.
Rob also had a deep love for barbecue. He took pride in smoking meats to perfection and was known for his ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. His backyard gatherings were about more than just good food—they were about connection, community, and the simple joy of being together.
Rob dedicated many years of his life to the fire department. Though humble about his service, those who knew him recognized his quiet bravery and his steady commitment to helping others. He never sought recognition—he simply showed up, did the work, and made a difference. Unfortunately due to the hazards of fighting fires in order to protect the communities, property and families he served, he made the ultimate sacrifice.
Rob’s legacy is one of love, bravery and a life lived with intention. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Peggy; his children, Rebecca (Luke) and Olivia (Wyatt); his cherished granddaughters, Harper and Hadley, who lovingly called him Papa; his mother, Barbara; and his sisters, Jennine (Jason) and Kelly (Joseph). He now joins his father, James, who predeceased him in 2019. Rob held a special place in the hearts of his numerous nephews and nieces. He is also remembered fondly by a wide circle of extended family and friends who were fortunate to share in his life.
In honoring Rob’s memory, may we all live with a little more heart, take time to gather around the table, and always show up for the people who matter—just as he did every day.
Rest in peace, Rob. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
