Robert's obituary
Robert (Bob) Walker died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 31st surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Sommerville, Massachusetts on January 24, 1946, the oldest of three sons to Frank and Mildred Walker. He graduated from Sommerville High School (1963) and Bentley College (1967) where he excelled in both academics and sports. In 1985 he was inducted into the Bentley University Hall of Fame for basketball and still holds the title for the all-time leading rebounder.
Bob is survived by his wife, Glenna Giveans, his sons, Michael and wife Kimberly, Chris and wife Jennifer, his stepchildren, Garth and Galen Gregor, his mother, Mildred Walker, his brother Paul, his uncle, Carl Perkins, his grandchildren, Paige, Noah, Stella, Odessa, and Angel, many nieces, and nephews and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Walker.
Bob enjoyed so many things in his life. He loved spending time with his family. Traveling to have lunch with his mom every other Sunday, driving up to watch Paige and Noah’s sporting events. This love of family and gathering started early in his life when he would travel to his maternal grandparent’s farmhouse in Hampton, NH. Here he spent his early summers, and this continued to be a place of Walker family gatherings until just a few years ago. A lover of both playing and watching sports, he took many ski trips with his kids and good friends and continued to play racquetball, hike, and bike with his good friend Tom and Margaret.
Bob loved traveling with Glenna. Married in 1992 they took trips all over the world, including Thailand, Romania, Ireland, The Galapagos Islands, and Costa Rica among many other places. Bob was one of the best people to vacation with. Good food and adventures were always to be had.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for June 25, 2022.
