Robert Ray “Bob” Iser was born in Bemis, W.Va., on Aug. 17, 1938, and passed peacefully from this life Nov. 27, 2019, in Nashville, Tenn. He was the only child of Wilbert Lewis and Helen Batchelor Iser. Bob’s mother was blind, and he learned as an 8-year-old boy to play guitar by leading the blind, black bluesmen around on and near Elm Street in Dallas — today known as “Deep Ellum.” Bob’s jazz and blues …
