Bob always listened to me on the radio when I was the "Morning Man" on WCFL in the '80s. Plus he followed me on the Irish radio shows before that. Great oldest brother!
Around St. Patrick's Day I am reminded of WHY 5, the band I sang and played in with my brothers and brother in law. Anyways we played a gig at the local watering hole in the old neighborhood and Bob collected the cover charge (we were working for "the gate fee" only). All 4 brothers were working together that night!
Our Dad (Bob Sr.) brought home a ton of Lionel trains he had gotten along with 2 large 4 x 8 boards with track layouts and plenty of switches, houses, etc. that any train enthusiast would love. Bob and I started building (he designed the layout and I did the wiring). Soon we had 4 trains, several towns with street lights and Christmas lights and whistles and horns galore. Bob was in high school and working as well so he wasn't able to be upstairs in our attic "hobby room" as much as he'd have liked to. When we could we'd work on the layout in the daytime and run the trains at night with the ceiling light off so the glow of the trains and villages lit up the room. I started collecting again from scratch in 2014 but don't get around well enough to crawl over and under train layouts. Miss you, Bob. God keep you.
