Robert's obituary
Robert Henry “Bob” Williams, 82, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, joined his heavenly father on October 31, 2025, following a lengthy battle with heart failure. A devoted husband, father, pastor, and friend, Bob will be remembered for his servant heart, his deep belly laugh, and his unwavering service to God his community and his family.
Born on February 18, 1943, in Butte, Montana, to Della and Bill Williams, Bob grew up with a love of learning, music, and ministry. After graduating from Hamilton High School in 1961—where he earned the Bausch & Lomb Science Award—he pursued higher education with devotion. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Lewis & Clark College in 1965 and a Master of Divinity from the San Francisco Theological Seminary in 1968, the same year he was ordained into the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Hamilton, Montana.
Bob’s 34 years of ministry was marked by faithfulness and compassion. In his early years he served as the pastor of churches in Twin Falls, ID and Bellingham, Washington. He was called to Westminster Presbyterian Church of Gallup, New Mexico, where he would serve as pastor from 1977 to 1997—its longest-serving leader. During that time, he also served in the Presbytery of Santa Fe and the Synod of the Southwest. Upon retirement he went on to serve as an interim pastor at churches in Clovis, Artesia, and Roswell. Beyond the pulpit, Bob was President of the Rotary Club of Gallup, a Paul Harris Fellowship Award recipient, and an active volunteer for organizations such as Transient Relief Services, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity and Roswell Refuge.
A gifted musician and performer, Bob’s tenor voice lifted countless choirs, and he shared joy through puppet theater, trumpet performances, and community theatre. He loved history, worship, psychology, and sports—especially the Seattle Seahawks and the Chicago Cubs.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Kate Debraose, and his daughters, Vanessa Hornyak and Miriam Ryan, son-in laws Rick Hornyak and Larry Ryan and grandchildren Sarah Hornyak, Ben Hornyak, Jack Ryan and Charly Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roger.
Memorial service details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Feed America.
Psalm 91:4 – “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
