Robert's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Robert Giarrizzo, known affectionately by friends and family as Bob. Born on November 16, 1964, he departed this world far too soon on September 9, 2023.

A compassionate, giving, and caring soul, Robert will be remembered for his inherent kindness and his unique ability to teach others about the importance of love. He firmly believed that love was not simply about receiving, but about giving unconditionally to others. His favorite motto was "Actions speak louder than words." This was reflected in the way he lived his life, constantly offering help, comfort, and support to everyone around him.

Robert was an exceptional athlete, whose love for sports was evident throughout his life. He showed early promise as a hockey goalie for Winchester High School in 1982, and his gusto for physical exertion continued into adulthood. He was particularly fond of weightlifting, clinching the title of Masters Heavy Weight Champion in 2019. His favorite local spots were hockey rinks and gyms, places where he could channel his energy and passion.

Off the field, Robert had a taste for the simple pleasures in life. Pizza was his all-time favorite comfort food, and he enjoyed nothing more than unwinding with a glass of water. A passionate fan of AC/DC, he found solace in their powerful music. It was rare to see Bob without his AC/DC cap or T-shirt, showcasing his love for the band.

Robert was an earnest advocate for animal welfare, a cause that he held close to his heart. His compassion for all living creatures was a testament to his warm and loving personality. His greatest legacy, one of kindness and compassion, will live on through the many lives he has touched.

Robert is survived by his beloved sisters, Pamela A Giarrizzo, Karen Giarrizzo, and Paula Keymont. He was predeceased by his dear parents, Palmina and Vito Giarrizzo. Robert’s generous spirit is embodied in his final act of kindness – the donation of his eyes, so that others may see the world as he did – with love, compassion, and hope.

Robert's life was a testimony to the fact that an individual's greatest accomplishments aren't always trophies or titles. Instead, what truly mattered to him was his ability to love, to give, and to care. These sentiments can be encapsulated in his favorite phrase "Anything he did!". This phrase was not about self-bragging, but a reflection of his belief that every act of kindness, no matter how small, was a significant accomplishment.

We will miss Robert's warm smile, his infectious enthusiasm, and his unwavering kindness. His spirit will continue to live on in our hearts, reminding us to be compassionate, to give without expecting, and most importantly, to love unconditionally. Rest in peace, dear Robert.
