Bob's obituary
Robert A. Garth, Jr., 66 of Mt. Airy, MD passed away August 13, 2022 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Garth, Sr., his mother, Virginia W. Garth and a brother, Terry L. Garth. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathleen Garth as well as two sons, Nicholas J. Garth and Jonathan R. Garth and one grandchild, James Garth. He leaves behind his brother, Michael W. Garth and sister Virginia V. Strumpf, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon hearing of his passing many people have described Bob as a sweet and kind man. He was a loyal employee who worked for over 40 years at Builders Design in Gaithersburg, MD. Bob’s great loves in life were his family, animals, and the guitar. In his youth he played in several bands, including The Knuckleheads, Shades of Blue, and Reflections. He and his wife, Kathleen, have taken care of and rescued many feral cats that roamed their neighborhood, they’ve also rescued several dogs along the way. Bob was very proud of his two sons, Nick and Jon, and his grandchild, James. He was blessed to spend lots of time with them.
Bob didn’t want a fuss made over him and asked that there not be a funeral. He just wanted his friends and family to come together to share memories and talk about the good times.
There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for August 31st from 4 pm-8 pm at the MAVFC Reception Hall,1008 Twin Arch Road, Mt Airy, MD 21771.
It will be an open house, a buffet dinner will be served until 7:30 pm.
