Bob's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Garner. Born on December 14, 1959, Bob moved on to the next adventure on November 18, 2023. Known for his outgoing personality, friendly nature, and curiosity about life, he brightly touched countless lives throughout his 63 years.
Bob grew up in Geneva, OH, where he graduated high school in 1978. His love for sports was evident in his favorite games, which included golf, football and baseball. His zest for life shone through his diverse recreational activities like golf, baseball, flying, and helping others. Learning to fly both airplanes and helicopters ranked among his proudest achievements, and a testament to his adventurous spirit.
Beyond an adventurous soul, Bob was a beacon of wisdom, injecting a sense of responsibility in those around him with his favorite saying, "If it is to be, it's up to me." His enthusiasm and passion left a mark on everyone he met.
Throughout his professional life, Bob showcased his exceptional leadership skills and broad range of expertise. He attended the Ohio Military Academy and later served as a Deputy Sheriff in Geauga County. His career as a Project Manager spanned across several corporations, where he brought innovation, efficiency, and a strong work ethic to every role he undertook. Most notably at Progressive Insurance, dedicating seven years to the company and leaving a lasting legacy through his contributions.
Beyond the bounds of his many accomplishments, Bob's greatest pride was in his four children. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Kimberly Garner, Kristina Garner, Audrey Zaebst, and his son, Cody Garner. His strong spirit carries on through their lives. Bob is also survived by his kind-hearted mother, Barbara Abplanalp, brother, Rendell Garner, and his former wife and mother to his four children, Darla (Maclaughlin) Gillispie. He joins his late father, Ronald Garner, and brother Richard "Rick" Garner in everlasting peace.
Bob's legacy is one of adventure, kindness, generosity, and laughter. He believed in making the most of every moment, in taking responsibility for one's destiny, and in the joyous act of giving. His memory shall persist as a radiant reminder of a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
