Robert's obituary

Robert Joseph Gallant

September 26, 1969 – August 25, 2025

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Robert Joseph Gallant, who left us on August 25, 2025, after facing cancer with incredible courage. He was 55.

Robert grew up in the small, close community of North Rustico, Prince Edward Island, and carried the spirit of the Island with him wherever life took him. Even after settling in Ontario, PEI was always home in his heart—he never stopped loving its red shores, winding roads, fresh seafood, and salty air.

He was the loving husband of Lillian, his partner in life and laughter. Together, they raised their daughter, Samantha, who brought him endless pride and joy. Robert was a proud and playful grandfather to Caleb, Carter, and Quinn, whose curiosity and energy reminded him of himself.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Peters; his siblings Michele (Terry), Denise (Kent), and Andrew (Sherin); and his in-laws Rita and Chris (Dale), who were steady and loyal parts of his life. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Joe. His nieces and nephews—Jordan, Joshua, Meaghan, Grace, Jubilee, Frankie, and Ashley—will always remember his tall tales and quick sense of humor. Coming from a large, close-knit family on both the Peters and Donald Mosey sides, Robert leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins—each one holding a special place in his heart.

Robert was a valued member of the Halton Region team for 21 years, serving as a SCADA Analyst with dedication and integrity. His colleagues will remember his significant professional contributions, genuine camaraderie, warm and friendly nature, and the many life stories he shared that brought laughter and connection to the workplace.

Robert had a curious mind and a big heart. As a kid, he loved taking things apart just to see how they worked. He drove just fast enough to make you nervous, and could tell a story so wild you weren’t sure if it was truth or legend. He had a quick and easy laugh that made everyone around him smile. He loved deeply and enjoyed his Molson Dry with gusto.

More than anything, Robert made people feel good—like they belonged, like they mattered. That’s the kind of legacy that lasts. Even in death, Rob’s generosity endured—he gave the gift of sight through the donation of his eye tissue, a final act of compassion that reflects the selflessness he carried throughout his life.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15th from 2:00-4:00 at Glasgow Hills Golf Club. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived.

Honoring Robert’s deep love for his grandsons and his hopes for their future, donations may be made to their education funds by e-transfer to ForRobsBoys@gmail.com . Alternatively, donations may also be made to a cancer support organization of your choice, in memory of a man who faced his illness with grace and grit.
