Robert J. Francis, 73, died peacefully at home on July 13, 2023, with his partner and wife of 48 years Kay, and his two surviving children John and Katie, from a short but fierce battle with lung cancer.

Bob was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 11, 1950. Bob's life was full of experiences and roles that left him with many cherished memories. He graduated from Macalester College and spent the Summers in Glacier National Park and the Florida Keys. Bob attended Rochester Community College where he earned his nursing degree and met his wife, Kay. He continued his education at Western Michigan University where he became a Physician Assistant. Bob served the community at Michiana Medical center for 30 years. Bob enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and passed on to his children simple and important lessons – be kind, honest, and true to yourself.

Although this is not how we expected Bob’s final chapter to be written, the impact he had on those around him will be felt for years to come. Bob was a kind, generous, and exceptionally loving person to anyone looking for a listening ear or a wise supportive thought. Regardless of the circumstance or situation, every conversation had a good laugh.

Bob was preceded in death by his son Brett and brother Pat. He is survived by his wife Kay, his children John and Katie, his brother Bill Francis (Mary), and his sisters Molly Petersen (Tom) and Susan Enders (Bill).
