Robbie's obituary
Robert "Robbie" Ervin was born on November 26, 1962, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to the late Charlie Ervin, Sr., and the late Junnie Mae (Bell) Ervin. He passed away on April 27, 2024.
Robbie had a lifelong passion for baseball, showing great skill from a young age and playing for a youth professional team. His journey took him from Beaufort to the cities of Boston and Atlanta, where he formed deep friendships and fond memories.
Robbie was affectionately nicknamed "Dog" by his friends for his tough, resilient nature. He also had a knack for humor and giving playful nicknames to those around him, such as "Duck-Mouth," "Tweety-Bird," "Big Bill," "Big Gum," "Juicy Fruit," "Big Ears," "Weenie," and "The Fonz."
A true gentleman, Robbie always had charming words for everyone, especially women. He shared a special bond with all of his siblings. He loved them dearly.
As we say goodbye to Robbie, we find comfort in the joyful impact he left on our lives. His spirit will continue to inspire us.
Robbie is survived by his sons, Robert Ervin, Jr. and Lamont Gibbs; their mother, Christine Gibbs; his grandsons, Robert Gibbs Jr. and King Gibbs; and his siblings Pearl Graham, Andrew "Stub" Graham, Essie Graham, Charlene "Diane" Ervin Heyward, Charlie “Weenie” Ervin, Jr., and Richardene "Dena" Ervin. He was preceded in death by his siblings Willie "Bubba" Gerald Graham and Lavinia "Vin" Ervin.
Robbie's legacy will live on through his many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and those who loved and adored him.
