Bobby's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bobby" Mckinney Jr., lovingly known as Bobby, on June 25, 2025. Born on November 22, 1987, Bobby lived a full life filled with love, passion, and dedication to his interests.
Bobby leaves behind his adoring parents, Robert and Charlene Mckinney. His cherished memory is also kept alive by his grandfather, Raymond Thompson; uncles, Ron Moyer, Richard Mckinney, and Daniel Thompson; aunts, Janice Moyer, Cynthia Wotipka, Mary Thompson, and Julie Thompson; cousins, Loretta Winter, Matthew Jennings, and Jennifer Jennings; and his beloved child, Mattey Mcbroom Roth.
Bobby started his education journey in 1993 and graduated from Marshall High School in 2005. His zest for life was evident in his shift to Waskom High School in 2003. An avid racer, Bobby kick-started his passion for dirt track racing in 1995, a hobby that held a special place in his heart. His other milestones include buying his first pickup truck in 2007 and adopting an English Bull Terrier in 1994.
A food aficionado, Bobby had a particular fondness for chicken rice, steaks, and pizza. His preferred drink of choice was Monster Energy Drinks. Apart from racing, Bobby was a fan of Moody Blues and Styx music, watched TV shows like 'Blacklist,' and was fond of NASCAR racing and Jeff Gordon Dirt Week in New York. His favorite games encompassed Battleship, Monopoly, Risk, Uno, and Poker.
Bobby's taste for the arts shone through his favorite performance 'Nutcracker.' His life revolved around racing – watching them, working on them, discussing them. Even his favorite way to exercise was racing. An adventurer at heart, Bobby loved to travel far and wide, especially for different races. Locally, he was often found at the Houston Motorsports Park Boothill Speedway. A man of compassion, Bobby cared deeply about Bull Terrier Rescue.
Blue held a special place in Bobby's heart, and it is with this color in mind we will remember him. Bobby and his best friend/cousin Raymond Thompson 2nd, fondly known as 'Ray Ray', are now racing together in heaven. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
A Memorial service for Bobby will be held on July 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Second Baptist Highlands. In these sorrowful times, we invite you to join us in celebrating his life and remembering the happy moments he brought into our lives.
