Bob, A Set Apart Man After Yah’s Own Heart
Bob is not only my husband but my best friend, and the very best part of me. Through all of life’s struggles his faithfulness to God and making our Lord and Savior the center has kept our family strong.
He was a humble man putting others before himself. Was an over comer and didn’t waiver even when given bad news he would say “His will be done”.
Orphans found a dad, the homeless found a home and the addict found a safe refuge. He would give his last dollar to anyone that asked.
Traveling to Boston for the homeless outreach was his passion. The people thought to be a nuisance were the very people Bob loved to be around. He gave his new shirt to a homeless man because he liked it.
As the doctor and nurse came into the room and gave us the worst news anyone could possibly receive, Bob, having a captive audience, began to preach and tell that they need to seek God with all their heart and that there was nothing more important in this world. There was a man in critical condition in the next room and Bob looked at me and said lets pray, he took my hand and he began to pray for the critical man in the next room!
This is the example of deep love he has for those who are lost. Every time I went to his room there would be another doctor, nurse or hospital staff that he would witness to. He knew that God would use this illness to reach so many people we will never know about. Someday in heaven they will come one by one to thank him for his compassion and selflessness.
Recently there was a family party in New Hampshire, I didn’t think it was a good idea to attend but Bob said God is telling me to go. We had one of the most amazing opportunities to pray with family members. This was Bob’s purpose in life, serving others.
Being the patriarch He left us a perfect example of love and commitment of what a man, husband, father and grandfather should be. His happiness came from seeing me and his family become close to the Lord.
One of his most earnest prayers was that his children and grandchildren would follow in his legacy. His most precious times were spent with his children talking about the things of God, giving us his wisdom and praying together. Bob wanted nothing more than his children and grandchildren to be faithful and follow in his footsteps. In December while Bob while praying it was confirmed to him by the Lord that all of his children, Jeni, Jason, Nick, Jamie and his grandchildren, Micah, Jadon, Jianna and all who come after, would serve Him and be saved . What he would stand on were the words “Let all who come behind me find me faithful”.
I thank God for all the beautiful ways he had worked through you to bring His love to life in me and in our family. We have been so blessed to have you all these years. Your legacy, faithful follower, diligent seeker, oneness with God will live on through our children and grandchildren.
His desire was to know the Lord intimately to become one with him. This was accomplished. He has seen and experienced this agape love that he’s longed so much for. He stood strong in his beliefs and was blessed by the Lord for his steadfastness.
To me Bob truly had the qualities of 2 Peter 1, when it speaks about adding to your faith: virtue, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, kindness and brotherly love.
But he sought the kingdom, his glory, and his righteousness, had faith in the eternal and lived his life for the greater reward. On April 20, Bob took my hand and said “I saw God’s Love”.
His commitment to the Lord had only become deeper and deeper as time went on. Bob’s main focus was to know the Lord with all his heart, mind, and soul and to not lean on his own understanding but in all ways to acknowledge his Lord. This is how this man of God lived his life. He is the most genuine and righteous man I have ever known and will greatly be missed. After almost 30 years of marriage I can truly say that I love Bob more than I did the day I married him. I saw God’s love in him that just radiates through to touch the people around him and especially me. Thank you Lord for this amazing godly man you allowed me to share my life with.
Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.
Love Always, Donna
