Robert Edward Cook, 73 of Davenport, Florida passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023 after a heroic 21-month battle of the lingering aftereffects of COVID. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength and grace.
Robert fondly known as Bob, “Cookie,” or affectionately known as “Papa” to the grandkids. Bob was born on December 3, 1949 to the late Pete and Ruth Cook. Bob grew up in a small close-knit community in Manchester, VT. From an early age, he demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic and a deep sense of integrity. These qualities would shape the man he became and leave an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Bob graduated from Vermont Technical College. Bob was in the semiconductor business for forty-three continuous years. He began his career at IBM in Essex Jct., Vermont. Later moving to Manassas, Virginia to work at Dominion/Micron. Professionally, Bob was a dedicated employee. Throughout his career he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues through his diligence and expertise. He served as a mentor to many. His wisdom and guidance were sought after as he had a way of offering words of encouragement and support in times of need.
Beyond work, Bob had a zest for life. He had an adventurous spirit, and he cherished the great outdoors. Bob loved fishing trips, golf and traveling. Especially traveling to Aruba and spending time with family and friends. Bob’s presence illuminated every gathering. He will be remembered for his kindness and infectious laugh.
His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loving wife of 53 years Donna (Kristiansen), daughter Wendi Delaney and husband Rob, daughter Betsy Cook and husband Jordan. He also leaves behind his sister Shirley and Mike McGuire and brother Norman Cook. Three adoring grandchildren Conner and Brianna Delaney, Chelsea Cook, great- grandson Jaziah Cook, and the countless others who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Bob Cook’s life will be on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 2-5pm at Nokesville Winery 12593 Foremost Ct, Nokesville, VA 20181.
