Rev. Robert Earl Clark
Pastor Bob, was born Robert Earl Clark on September 24, 1936 in Merced California.
He was born to Jesse Earl Clark and Elizabeth Ann Clark. Bob had 2 brothers Bill and Gary and has one sister Donna Bevel living in Indio, Ca.
Bob was born in Merced, and lived in Camptonville, Stockton, Fresno, Shaver Lake and eventually settled in Auberry. He attended Sierra High School from 1952-1954. He graduated from Sierra in 1954. He ran Track, tumbling and played football. In High School he was known as “Rapid Robert”. After High School he went to COS Junior College in Visalia and played football for a semester.
He served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.
He married Billie Ruth Owen in 1955 in North Fork, CA. They lived in Madera, Shaver Lake and Auberry. They had 4 children. Robert Eugene (Gene), Cynthia Diann (Cindy), Terry Lynn and Randy Martin.
He worked for Standard Oil driving a fuel truck in the mountain areas.
The family attended Auberry Community Church. They joined a group of church families and became a part of founding of Sierra Hills Baptist Church in Tollhouse. Bob was very involved in the church leading worship and teaching Bible studies. He also did whatever he was called on to do. Bob was called into full time ministry in 1969 and the family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where Bob attended Tennessee Temple Bible School. In 1972 Pastor Bob gradated Salutatorian of his class. His first church was in Claxton, Georgia. He was there for a year and a half and returned to Tollhouse where he became Pastor of Sierra Hills Baptist Church in April of 1974. He remained pastor for 34 years and retired on September 30, 2007.
After retirement they moved from Auberry to Clovis and attended Central Baptist Church where he continued to serve as he was called upon. He enjoyed making Saturday morning phone calls to members of the church. His cheery demeaner was always enjoyed.
Pastor Bob’s Memorial service will be held on March 21, 2026 at Sierra Hills Baptist Church, Tollhouse, CA
