1953, Strathern Street School
Bob an I went all through school together. He lived on the corner and I lived a half block away. We grew old together but at times we lost touch with each other only to bump into one or another and laugh about old times. Over our life time we made contact many times , most recently about 4 or 5 years ago. We’d talk on the phone or share texts. He was a link to our youth, the drag racing on Van Nuys Blvd and sneaking into the San Fernando Drag Strip. His menory was so very keen and he made me laugh many times like how I was able to pass English because he had a copy of the final exam. We raced cars, camped, fished and totally fucked off. I miss him. I miss his boring stories.

I was with my sister when she got a phone call from a guy that knew our brother, Rich. His name was Bob and he asked Mary out on a date. She was so excited. The rest really is history, because they married within the next year. She was Bob Duncan's soul mate. I think when she died in 2002 Bob figuratively died with her, it just took him fifteen years to join her in heaven. He was the BEST conversationalist I ever ran into and we could talk for hours. He was a great brother-in-law who loved my sister to pieces and I know he is with her and finally at peace. RIP dear Bob. Ellen

Known Dunc' for a long time. Too many stories to share. Talked about Mary a lot, how much he missed her. We worked together at LAFD on the Rescue Ambulance and he was a member of my VFW in Tehachapi. He will be missed especially karaoke nights. R.I.P. my freind
My sincere condolences to your family, friends and loved ones. I enjoyed your stories about being a "grip" and fireman. I missed seeing you the past couple of years due to your racing schedule. Dogface Charlie will surely miss you. No one could sing "Chantilly Lace" better than you.

Bob was always positive when we spoke at the salt. We had a lot in common. Both of us served in Viet Nam, we were Sidewinders, and we were 200 Club members. We never missed Speedweek. I even worked as an Assistant Principal at his Alma Mater Poly High School for 9 years. We always spoke about his helping Veterans. I will miss him and his positive attitude.
My condolences to you and the family. Bob and I were separated by miles but we kept in touch and shared a special bond that can never be broken. We both served in “DOGFACE” Charlie Company in Viet Nam. He will be missed. Don’t know what memories he shared but he was a man to be proud of.

70'th Birthday cake
Bob and I met back in 1964 at Poly Tech High School in Sun Valley, California. We shared a love for anything that had to do with “bitch’n” cars, guns, and anything that brought on a good belly laugh.

49 years ago, I was having a fairly uneventful 21’st birthday when the doorbell rang and there was Bob at the front door. To this day I don’t know how he knew it was my birthday, but somehow, he did. He looked at me and said, “come on, it’s your 21’st birthday, and I’m gett’n you drunk”. That’s exactly what he did, and he wouldn’t let me spend a dime of my money, until late in the evening when we were both under the table, I got to sneak in a couple pitchers of beer. It’s always been one of my greatest memories.

Back in 1971 Bob told me our mutual friend, and Bob’s racing partner, Bob Jucewic, was selling his like new, beautiful small block 327, ’65 Corvette Roadster. While talking with my dad, I mentioned I was meeting Jucewic to take the ‘Vette out for a spin. My dad asked if he could join me, and I said of course. After meeting Jucewic a little after midnight, my dad and I headed off on our little test drive. I turned onto the Hollywood Freeway onramp off Roscoe Blvd and power shifted the ‘Vette onto the freeway up to a about 135 MPH. After I shut it down, my dad’s reaction, after being “unpinned” from the shotgun seat was priceless (and unrepeatable). Before that night, he had never experienced a car that fast in his life. His reaction was probably the biggest reason I bought the ‘Vette.

As the years rolled by, Bob always told me how proud he was of his sons. Knowing Bob, I’m guessing he kept this close to the vest, not wanting to appear like he was bragging.

Bob and I always kept in touch one way or another over the last 53 years. I’ll miss our conversations and Bob’s belly laughs, but I’m glad that he’s finally reunited with Mary, who I know he thought the world of. They were a great couple.

Rest in peace old friend, you earned it. Luvya like a brother buddy!

He was my uncle that I never got a chance to see in my life. Im torn that I wasnt able to meet him or talk to him even just on the phone. He will be an angel above, I hope he will guide me everyday and the rest of his family. May he rest in peace! 🌷
