Robert's obituary
NAZARETH -- Robert A. "Bob" Dragert, 87, of Nazareth, PA, passed away into our Lord's loving arms on
Saturday, June 19, 2021, while in hospice care at home. Mr. Dragert was born and raised in Trenton and lived in the
Pennington, NJ area for over fifty years before moving to Nazareth a few years ago. He retired from ADT
Security Systems after suffering a paralyzing stroke in 1988.
He loved his country and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard
both the USS Valcour and the USS Siboney and had the opportunity to visit many areas of the world
during his tour of duty.
Robert was a wonderful gardener, loved deep-sea fishing, and was an avid Boston Red Sox
fan. His large collection of recordings and videos attested to his love for country music, classic movies
and westerns. He especially enjoyed studying Civil War history and visiting the battlefields. He loved
traveling to Maine and vacationing at the New Jersey shore.
After suffering the stroke, Robert became a very popular volunteer at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation
Center for over 17 years.
Robert was predeceased by infant daughter Linda, his parents Walter and Mary Dragert,
his brother Carl Dragert, and his sister Constance Fuschini (Joseph). He is survived by his
loving wife Ilona (aka "Pat"), his two daughters, Ellen L. Smayda (Dr. Richard), Lauren A. Boekhout
(Glenn), and his son, Dr. Robert J. Dragert (Dr. Michele). He was "Pop-Pop" to
grandchildren Richard, Emma, Brett, Brynne, Griffin and Everett. He also leaves many
extended family members and friends.
Robert will be remembered for his inspiration to others and for his courage and
patience in facing many daily physical and emotional challenges.
A private viewing was held at the George G. Bensing Funeral Home. Robert will be laid to rest at the
Washington Crossing National Cemetery with a private service for the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice in Robert Dragert's name
would be very much appreciated.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of the Bayada healthcare team
members for the compassion, excellent care and kindness given to Robert, and to a very kind and special
neighbor, nurse Jessica. Thanks so much for the great blessing you've all been!
