Cecil's obituary
Robert Cecil Williams (Cecil) 91 of Brownfield, Texas, passed away on May 5, 2024, at the Brownfield Rehabilitation and Care Center where he had resided for several years.
Robert was born on June 1, 1932, to Lynn Harrold Williams and Lila Annie Evitt of Anton, Texas. Robert went to school in Anton where he played football, and his friends and family called him Cecil. He married his beloved wife, Virginia Mae Howard of Whitharral, Texas in June of 1950. For the first few years of their marriage the couple lived on the farm where Virginia grew up. Their daughter Donna was born in 1951. In 1954 Cecil and Virginia started a ministry career and they moved to Windom, KS. In 1958 while living in Meade, KS the family grew with the arrival of their son Richard. Then in 1967 while living in Morton, TX, the family became complete with the addition of daughter Lorna.
Cecil served as a minister for several years residing in Panhandle, TX, Tucumcari, NM, Fouke, AK, Plains, TX, Aransas Pass, TX, Rotan, TX, and Crowel, TX, while the family was in ministry. Cecil spent several of his summers traveling to other churches where he would hold revivals and vacation bible schools. Cecil was always active in the communities he ministered in participating in local men’s clubs and coaching little league baseball. He enjoyed being active in the community while performing his ministerial duties.
Upon their retirement in 1978 from the church ministry, Cecil, and his wife Virginia along with their son Richard and youngest daughter Lorna Kaye moved to Deer Park, Texas where they lived until 2006. Cecil enjoyed playing golf at the local range close to his home in Deer Park. He loved baseball and was a fan of the Houston Astros.
Cecil is survived by his Daughter (Lorna Richardson and son Aaron Richardson of Dickinson, TX); Daughter (Donna DeBusk and husband Tommy DeBusk of Plainview, TX) ; Son {Richard Williams and wife Liz Williams of Brownfield, TX); Grandson (Stephen DeBusk and wife Rachel of Fort Worth, TX); Grandson (Michael DeBusk and wife Carmen DeBusk and their children Michael and Savanah of Spring, TX); Granddaughter (Robin Bradley and husband Michael Bradley and son Lathan Bradley of Lubbock, TX); Grandson (Cody Bradley and wife Dakota Bradley and son Liam of Tampa, FL); Grandson (Landon Bradley and wife Alexis Bradley and son Quillitair of San Angelo, TX); Grandson (Chad Bradley and wife Chloee James and daughter Mayven of Lubbock, TX).
Cecil is also survived by his youngest sister (Bonnie Stephens and husband Miles Stephens of Littlefield, TX), several nephews and nieces.
Cecil was known as was also known as “DAD” and “GRAND DAD” to (Van Kowalik of Brownfield, TX); and (Dario and Marsha DiMichele of Spring, TX and their children Michael and Dawn).
Cecil arranged for his body to be donated to the Texas Tech University Medical Science School for the use of teaching new doctors.
The family requests memorial donations be made in the memory of Robert Cecil Williams to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
