Robert “Bob”'s obituary

Robert “Bob” Clinton Jackson

July 19, 1943 – July 4, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” Clinton Jackson, who peacefully passed away on July 4, 2025, at home in Alpine, Utah, surrounded by the family he cherished. Born July 19, 1943, in Burley, Idaho, Bob lived 81 adventurous years marked by faith, laughter, service, and popcorn. He found joy in the simple things with his wife, a drive in the mountains, the hum of a tractor, a can of Diet Coke in hand, and the open skies while piloting an airplane.

Bob was a man of many hats: plumber, scuba diving instructor, EMT, firefighter, police officer, sheriff, pilot, civil air patrol, search and rescue, and real estate broker, but none suited him quite as perfectly as the one labeled husband, father, and grandfather. He was the steady hand, the quiet strength, the storyteller with the twinkle in his eye. Above all, he was a protector. We all knew it and felt it, he made you feel safe just by being in the room.

Bob was also a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. He served diligently in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as an Elders Quorum President (several times), High Priest Group Leader, First Counselor in the Bishopric, Home Teacher/Minister, and a beloved temple worker for 10 years. Though never loud in his devotion, Bob’s life was a steady offering of love and loyalty to his Heavenly Father.

Bob’s heart belonged to one woman: his beloved Bonnie Jean “BJ” Jackson. Married on May 28, 1959, and later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, their love was evident to all who knew them. BJ was his world, his compass, and his soft place to land. From the way he looked at her to the way he cared for her, their love was the foundation of everything he did. They built a life in Idaho and Utah and ultimately settled in Alpine, where their home became the heart of the family. Watching their love was like watching a favorite old movie, comforting, true, and timeless.

Bob is survived by his loving wife BJ, his five children: Karma Jackson (Lauri), Kerina Blauer (Doug), Koby Jackson (Jenifer), Konae Hauser (Brandt), and Kami Su Bird (Greg), along with 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and his brother LaVern Jackson (Renae). He is reunited in peace with his parents, Geneva and William Adelbert “Bert” Jackson, and his brother, William “Bill” Jack son and his great-grandson Colesyn Hutchison.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Alpine 10th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 327 South Long Drive, Alpine, Utah. Services will be conducted under the direction of Bishop Esplin. A viewing will take place prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Bob leaves behind a legacy of courage, compassion, and a well-loved life, and we know he’s finally soaring through the skies, just where he always loved to be.
