Bob's obituary
Robert (Bob) Allan Cole
April 5, 1945 – July 7, 2024
Bob Cole, born in San Tomé, Venezuela, on April 5, 1945, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 7, 2024, at the age of 79. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Dorothy Brady Cole; his sons, Allan Cole (Linda) and Rob Cole; his daughter, Colleen Erdman (Keith); and his cherished grandchildren: Alex, Alyssa, Lindsay, Zac, Kellen, Camden, Brayden, and Asher. He is also survived by his step-sister, Sr. Cynthia Johnston, SSCJ.
Bob earned a Bachelor's degree from Tulane University, followed by a Master's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He later returned to Tulane to pursue his Doctorate. As a dedicated Mechanical Engineer, Bob moved his family to Albuquerque in 1987, where he worked for various contractors at Kirtland Air Force Base.
Bob was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 37 years, where he served as a Deacon and contributed to numerous committees, leaving a lasting impact on the church community.
After retiring, Bob enjoyed swimming at the Y, reading anything he could get his hands on in his Kindle, and spending time with his grandkids who all affectionately called him “Bumpa.” Bob even had roles as an extra in several TV shows that filmed in Albuquerque. It was always a thrill to see him on TV.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. This date holds special significance, as it would have marked Bob and Dorothy’s 57th wedding anniversary. The couple married on Friday, October 13, 1967, and renewed their vows 50 years later on the same date in 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Kidney Fund, The Heart Fund, or a charity of your choice in Bob’s honor.
