Robert Haughey III
2006, Glen Mills, Thornbury Township, PA, USA
There are so many funny stories that I could share. One of the funniest was when it was gift exchange time on Christmas and my dad gave Allie a small teal box and she lit up. It was a Tiffany jewelry box. Allie was so excited until she opened it…it was a weird mechanical cricket from the Franklin Institute in Philly. Her disappointment and my dad’s bonehead box choice still make me laugh to this day!

Sir Emmett (as I called him) is someone that I know I was supposed to have met and have in my life.  He is the only person ever to always get the purest, happiest, truest smile from me.  I am so grateful for the trips we shared and for him always being willing to "ride my crazy wave" with me and always discuss anatomy, physiology, medicine, and odd things with me.  Thankful that my husband came into my life and allowed me to experience Sir Emmett and this type of relationship.

Oh how I am missing him!  As very good friends since 1984 we have shared wonderful times together, from Funky Fridays to Egypt and Peru.   Through good and bad times, we stayed friends and supported each other.  A funny, charming, smart, clever and caring friend that will live on in my heart.  We send our condolences to the family.
So sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Crescent Avenue friends. He will be missed.  Marie Reynolds
I knew Rob through his interest in paleontology. It was a pleasure to see his paleontological knowledge and his skill in conducting field work grow through the few years I observed them.  It was always a pleasure to spend a day in the field with Rob in Montana. chatting with him at Society of Vertebrate Paleontology meeting were a pleasure as well.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of  Rob’s passing.  We were in the Boy Scouts together and both attended Serra High School and the University of Cincinnati. It was obvious at the earliest years of knowing him that he was passionate about the things he loved and would push himself to be successful in those endeavors. I realized this in high school when I learned that he practiced his French horn very late at night in his car to avoid disturbing his family. We roomed together for one year in a dormitory at UC where it was obvious he would become a doctor no matter how many hurdles and road blocks were in front of him, and there were some that he fought hard to overcome. I was fascinated by his love of the French language, taking classes in high school and college, not knowing that fate would play into his hands in medical school. His obituary revealed so much more of the full life he led and that he was taken too soon for what he had to offer. My condolences to his family – cherish his memory.
Sending so many healing hugs and prayers during this difficult time.
