Rita's obituary
Rita Carolyn Taylor, 87, passed away the morning of April 21st, 2024. She spent the last 15 years in Dadeville, Alabama, and before, resided in Waverly Hall, Georgia.
She was born March 16th, 1937 in Port Arthur, Texas to Wilmer and Maureen Click. After graduating high school, she attended college at Texas Woman's University. She had a varied work history including time as a real estate agent, a horticulturist at Callaway Gardens and owner of a greenhouse. She also managed a working farm that sold livestock, clerked for the United States Postal Service, and co-owned a billiard parlor.
Finding solace in the gentle sway of a rocking chair and the soft rustle of the breeze, she found joy in the simple pleasures in life, such as sitting on the porch of her Lake Martin cabin, where time seemed to slow and worries faded away.
She will be remembered for her magical touch that turned even the most withered plants into flourishing greenery, a testament to her undeniable green thumb; her boundless imagination and innovative spirit that fueled a constant flow of creativity, evident in every project she undertook; and her cooking, which evoked the comforting warmth and soulful richness of Southern cuisine with every dish.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and is survived by her spouse, Harold Taylor, her sons, Scott Taylor and Keith Taylor, her grandchildren, Zachary Taylor, Miranda Taylor, Georgia Taylor, and Dylan Taylor, and a host of relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
She was a two-time cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, in memory of Rita Taylor.
Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the love she shared with all who knew her.
