Rita Faye Peterson, 65, of Wilmington, passed away on September 27, 2023. She was a vibrant and adventurous woman who lived life to the fullest. Rita had a gypsy soul and was always seeking new experiences. She was a social butterfly and cherished spending time with her friends. Rita was also a passionate advocate for the less fortunate, ensuring that people had what they needed.

In addition to her advocacy work, Rita had a green thumb like no other. She was a talented farmer and grew the most beautiful flowers. She had a variety of skills, including being a midwife, healer, translator, and much more. Rita was never deterred by obstacles and always pursued her goals with unwavering determination.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Melissa Brockman, her granddaughter Bridgette Barnes, her grandson Lyric Murray, her brother Tony Peterson Jr. and his wife Cindy Peterson, her sister-in-law Tina Peterson, wife of Randy Peterson, and multiple nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Pete Toniff and Evelyn Peterson, her parents Tony and Freda Peterson, her son Jeremy Melvin, and her brother Randy Peterson.

The funeral service will be held on October 15, 2023, at 3pm at Oakdale Cemetery.
