Rita's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Ortiz, a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Rita, born in 1964, left us on February 18, 2025, leaving a void in our hearts.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cindy Tena and Danielle Norris, her son, Michael Norris, and her adored grandsons, Tommy Groomes III, Hudson Groomes, and Mael Norris. Each of them brought immense joy to Rita's life, with her children being her greatest accomplishments. The addition of her cherished grandchildren in 2018 and 2024 only deepened the profound love she had for her family.
Rita was a lover of classic rock and oldies, and her favorite TV shows included General Hospital and The Big Bang Theory. Her favorite movie was Selena and she had a special fondness for comedic actress Molly Shannon whose performances never failed to bring laughter into her life. Rita was known for her adventurous spirit, regularly sunbathing at the beach and cruising down to Bolsa Chica to delight in the scent of sea air and bonfires. Her favorite color was red, a reflection of her vibrant and passionate spirit.
Rita was best characterized as kind, loving, funny, and easygoing. She had an innate warmth that radiated to those around her, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. Known for her forgiving nature and her desire to help others, Rita's legacy of kindness and generosity continues to inspire all who had the pleasure to know her.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established in her memory, "If You Feel Inclined To Give," which can be found at "https://everloved.com/life-of…". We invite those who would like to honor Rita's life to contribute as a further testament to her lifelong practice of generosity.
Rita Ortiz's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and kindness. She leaves behind a world brighter for her having been in it, and she will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
