JACOB, Rita Marjorie (nee Layzelle)

February 16, 1938 - December 3, 2023

Age 85, of Cherry Hill, NJ.  Loving wife, mother and proud grandmother, Rita Jacob passed away in her home on Sunday morning after a valiant six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Solomon Jacob; her two daughters, Sarah and Majah; her three grandchildren Lilah Fleishman, Padraic Fleishman, and Bodhi Fox; and her three sons-in-law Scott Carlbon, Eric Chambers, and Rob Fleishman. Loving daughter of the late William and Mae Layzelle; caring sister of Vance Layzelle, the late Kenny Layzelle, and sisters-in-law Ruth Bluston (nee Jacob) and Yolanda Bharucha (nee Jacob); also survived by grand nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Rita was an immensely strong and capable woman who loved her family and friends beyond all else. Born in Nagpur, India, Rita spent time living on four different continents over the years where she collected great friends and local bridge club memberships at every stop. Make no mistake, Rita was the matriarch of our family and she will be deeply and profoundly missed.

A private funeral service for the family will be held on Tuesday, December 5.   For friends and extended family members who wish to remember Rita and share their memories and love, a big Celebration of Life Service is being planned for some time in the new year.  All of the detailed information regarding this event will be shared in plenty of time so that anyone who wants to attend will be able to make the appropriate plans.  We look forward to sharing the joy of Rita's life with all of you in the near future.
