Rickey's obituary
🕊️ In Loving Memory of Rickey Lenell Harris
November 20, 1958 – January 31, 2026
Rickey Lenell Harris, lovingly known as “Papa,” passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 67. Though our hearts are heavy, we honor and celebrate a life that was bold, unforgettable, and full of love.
Rickey was not your typical grandfather. He was funny, outspoken, and always “talking his mess.” He carried a tough exterior and could be hard when he needed to be, but beneath that strength was a heart that loved deeply. If he loved you, you knew it.
He had a passion for motorcycles and owned several throughout his life. The sound of an engine and the open road brought him peace and pride. He also loved music, good energy, and making his presence known. Rickey enjoyed showing off just a little, keeping things lively, and ensuring that no room stayed quiet for too long when he was in it. He lived out loud and unapologetically himself.
Rickey proudly served his country in the United States Army. His service was a reflection of his strength, resilience, and dedication — qualities that remained with him throughout his life. He will be laid to rest with military honors.
He was the proud father of Richell McKeever and Danyell Spicer. He cherished his grandchildren, Daniel Menefee, ViDale Veasley, Lamonte McKeever, and Rickellia Veasley. He also shared a loving life with his wife, Clara Allan Harris, along with her children and grandchildren, whom he embraced as family. Rickey is also survived by his brother, Randy Harris.
To his granddaughter Rickellia, he was more than Papa — he was a best friend. He never pronounced her name the usual way, instead affectionately calling her “Rick-Will-Kill-Ya,” a nickname that carried laughter and love. One memory that will forever remain is the sound of his voice answering the phone with, “Hey, my babyyy.” That greeting alone could brighten any day.
Rickey even had his own language. When he said “huhbruh,” that meant period — end of discussion. It was one of many small but powerful ways he left his mark on those around him.
A memorial service celebrating Rickey’s life will be held on February 28, 2026, in Barstow, California. Funeral services with military honors will take place on March 1, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Though he may no longer walk beside us, his voice, laughter, strength, and love will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
Huhbruh.
