In Loving Memory of Rick Jones
November 17, 1955 – May 11, 2025
Rick Jones, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on November 17, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, Rick lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and a deep love for family, community, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Rick proudly served the City of Round Rock for 36 years, where his hard work and quiet dependability left a lasting impact. Outside of work, Rick found joy in friendly competition, spending many years participating in local softball and bowling leagues.
A true collector at heart, Rick amassed a beloved collection of James Bond memorabilia, Coca-Cola items, and vintage matchbooks. He was also a devoted fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, cheering them on through every season with steadfast loyalty.
One of Rick’s greatest personal achievements was his commitment to donating blood—giving over 5 gallons in his lifetime and helping save countless lives through his selflessness.
Rick is survived by his brothers Terry Steckelberg and Kevin Jones; his daughters Jennifer Shuffield and Natalia Bryan; his sons-in-law Kelly Shuffield and James Bryan; and his cherished grandchildren Mabyn Shuffield, Matthew Bryan, Zane Bryan, and Alycia Roman-Bryan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Maas-Jones, and his sister, Sandy Smutzler.
Per Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes returned to his home state of Iowa. His family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered their love and support during Rick’s courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial donations in Rick’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society and the Wounded Warrior Project—two causes that held special meaning for him.
Rick’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
