Richard was a good friend who I started my real estate career with in 1978. He was going to college to be a teacher at the time . He was a also a breeder of golden retrievers and sold me Chester , my golden , a great dog who spent his life at Spring Lake Beach… I had a lot of good times with Richard and Regina and really valued his friendship over the years.
Think of him often. Always thought he was invincible, but I guess we’re all just one toke over the line. Hope that juke joint you’re living in lets you program the juke box.

Remembering fondly the master of the ¨bump¨. We met Richard on a snowy morning, Florida tickets in hand, trying to get his family bumped on a flight likely to be canceled. To his shock and dismay, he was told that bump tickets are not issued unless all members are present. Unwilling to take the loss of these free vouchers Richard found Tim Durigan´s family, who was already expertly trained in this art by Richard, and borrowed Tim´s wife and children to earn the vouchers! ¨True story¨. We shared the love of travel and the art of the deal with Richard. We will always be truly grateful for all the tips we learned and the fun times we shared. Richard will be greatly missed.
Regina- My thoughts are with you,the kids, and of course with Richard.........Just wanted to take a moment share my first meeting with Richard,,,He opened up with a joke,of course,,and as I got know him over the years,it was always like you were just hanging out with an old friend. He will be missed by everyone he has touched that's for sure, and remembered always,,,such a great man.....peace,Frank G.
Regina, we are so sorry for your loss. We’re in Puerto Rico for the month and read about Richard’s passing on Facebook. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family........

“ Simply the best “! Richard was polite , kind, funny, and full of life . His ritual of brushing snow of the entire fleet of cars in the levy parking lot while waiting for Regina to get out of work, is one small example of his kindness. His stories regarding his family , travels, and adventures, were many . All were full of love, zest for life , and often were told with that witty sense of humor of his. He was again “ simply the best “!

Never a dull moment at Burrillville High School with Richard! Richard was always upbeat, funny, and a true gentleman. We were fortunate to have known him. To the Toomey family, please accept my sincerest condolences. Deb Simone
I was a lunch lady in Burrillville. Richard was such a sweetheart, always so polite to me. Once or twice he brought us NY bagels. He was also my son's teacher. He seated us many times too at The Tavern on Main. Prayers to the family.
Tony and I enjoyed several “Toomey Trips” over the years!! Always Great flights and 5 star living quarters!! At the Tavern we were always given a booth and a good story!!! You will be missed Richard,! So sorry for Regina and your children! I enjoyed sharing stories of our teen years, You from the Rockaways and me from Flatbush! xo❤️
Regina and the entire Toomey clan thank you for sharing Richard with us. This is proof that life is short and enjoy the ride, while you are here on earth. I have so many famous quotes of Richard’s, “If your not living on the edge of your seat, your taking up too much space.” Or “it’s not the destination it’s the journey to the destination, so enjoy the trip”.
I have learned so much from you Richard! Thank you again for letting us borrow him!
Happy Trails Richard
