Richard's obituary

Richard Thomas Lee Canady (age 51) was born on September 8th, 1971, and he passed away in his Royse City home surrounded by loved ones on July 26th, 2023, after a 9-year battle with brain cancer.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandmother, Geraldine Davis and daughter, Caitlyn Canady.

Richard was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1988, where he spent most of his time playing soccer, running cross country and track, and playing the guitar. He later joined the Air National Guard until he was Honorably Discharged. He was a dedicated employee and leader for both AT&T and T-Mobile.   His colleagues appreciated his hard work and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed.

Richard never shied away from adversity, and his ability to stay strong through difficult times motivated those around him. During his long-standing battle with cancer, he was determined to go back to college to get his Masters Degree while selflessly working a full-time job and being a provider for his family.  He wanted to make the most of what time that he had left by traveling and seeing the world.

Richard has chosen to donate his body to science in the hope that he could be a part of something bigger than himself. His dream was to assist in finding the cure to cancer one day.

Richard married his soulmate and love of his life, Misty Gail Canady, on October 22nd, 2021. Words do not do justice to the bond that these two have shared over the last 10 years.

Richard is survived by his parents Gene Canady and Connie Canady; beloved wife, Misty Gail Canady; daughters, Arielle Canady, Felicia Avant and Haleigh Avant, brother Michael Canady and best friend Val Prettyman, as well as other beloved extended family and countless friends.
