He is survived by his wife Melissa Masterson Spataro of Venice, FL, his son and daughter-in-law Adam and Deanna Spataro of Venice, FL, his daughter and son-in-law Ariana and Colby Kerttula of Danielson, CT and his grandsons Hunter and Hudson Kerttula. Rich began his career at a young age and dedicated 36 years to the fire protection industry.

Rich enjoyed many things including riding his Harley and sport shooting. He was a huge fan of NASCAR and football, but he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. His antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He said what he meant and he meant what he said.

Rich will be missed dearly. At his request no services will be held.
