Richard's obituary
Richard "Owl" Earl Oicles, 69, of East Bridgewater, passed away on November 16, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. Born on September 8, 1954, in East Bridgewater to Ralph and Jean Oicles, Owl was known for his strong work ethic and love for deer hunting and the outdoors. He grew up with his siblings Sandy, Bobby, David, Billy, and Jeff, and held a special bond with his eldest nephew, Johnny.
Owl married Cordelia “Cookie” Connolly on June 19, 1978, and they shared 45 years filled with love, laughter, resilience, and strength. Through the many ups and downs of life, their bond remained unbreakable, a testament to their love and commitment to each other and their family.
Owl enjoyed working at Country Rentals in Hanson, where he built lasting friendships, especially with his boss and friend, Steve. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy in building and improving his home.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Cordelia “Cookie”; children Leila, Melissa, and Richard Jr.; and was preceded in death by his children Michelle and Timothy. A devoted "Papa" to Kyana, Cheyanne, Narissa, Liavonna, Amber, Cassidy, Isiah, Dezarae, Liasiah, Richie, Luis, Elijah, Serenity, Rakheem, and Miracle; and 11 great-grandchildren, Richard's legacy of love and strength continues in each of them.
It was Richard's last wish to have a celebration of his life instead of a funeral, which will be held at a date to be determined, where family and friends can gather to honor his memory. A papa, a brother, a husband, and a friend to many, Richard was loved and will be deeply missed. We find comfort in knowing he rests in peace, reunited with his children and parents in heaven.
