Richard Molina passed away the afternoon of June 4th, 2022 in Tacoma, WA. He is survived by his wife Barbara, 4 daughters and 12 grandkids. Our father was born in Detroit, Michigan, but his heart was always in Chicago where he spent some of his best years learning to play guitar, meeting our mother and having all his children there. Our parents moved to WA in 1985 and raised all of us girls in University Place while he worked on growing his construction business and playing music. Richard was a fun man, he loved to throw BBQ's and have everyone together at their house, we were all very close and spent a lot of time together. Unfortunately, our mother got early onset dementia in her 50’s and things became more difficult to manage. Our mother was no longer able to handle work, or the finances and our parents lost our childhood home. Our father took care of our mother to the best of his ability, not because he had to, but because that is what he wanted. With the help of our aunt and all of us kids we helped my parents and took the brunt of what were some exceedingly difficult years. Our father became very ill about 2 years ago and we had to make the tough decision to put our mother into a nursing home. He always had big dreams and he just wanted to pull through to be here for everyone and keep enjoying life. On June 4th his oldest daughter Sarah was married, he walked her down the aisle and spent his last day on this earth with all of his daughters, grandchildren and loved ones. We did not know that was the last time we would all be together, he held on as long as he could, but passed away that afternoon when he arrived home. Our father was an amazing person, he brought music into the lives of many, he enjoyed being a grandpa and spent as much time with his grandkids as possible, he truly was a kind, genuine man there for you no matter what. We will be celebrating his life on August 28th at the Tacoma Elks Lodge #174, the information about the event will be updated on this website for all that would like to attend.
