Rick's obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rick Edwards, who departed from this world on February 20, 2026. Born in 1949, Rick was a pillar of strength and love to all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rick graduated from Overton High School, Memphis, TN in 1968. In 1975, he embarked on a fruitful career at Plant Maintenance Service Corporation, where he remained until his well-deserved retirement in 2021. Rick’s professional commitment mirrored his dedication to his family and personal life.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Margaret and Maurice Edwards, and his dear sister, Jeanette Dillard. His legacy of love carries on in the lives of his surviving family members: his loving children Kevin Edwards and Jennifer Martin, his cherished daughter-in-law, Tiffany Edwards, and his caring son-in-law Shaun Martin. His brothers David, Richard, and Michael Edwards, and his extended family Sharma Edwards, will remember him fondly. Rick was a proud grandfather to Carter Edwards and Whit Hoy, Jameson, Fallon, and Laura Martin.
Rick was known for his love of the outdoors and sports. He was a loyal supporter of the Memphis Tigers and spent his leisure time fishing and hunting. Additionally, he cherished spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. If you couldn’t get a hold of him, you would find him at the White River fishing or hunting with his best friend Mark Burgess. Rick had a warm, kind, and selfless personality, always putting others before himself. He loved the color blue, which reflected his calm and steady demeanor.
Rick believed in the power of kindness and caring for loved ones. His greatest joys came from seeing his children grow and build families of their own. His legacy of kindness and generosity continues to inspire those who knew him. He had the rare ability to make everyone feel like family, a testament to his gentle soul.
The loss of Rick leaves a void in our hearts, but we find solace in the many wonderful moments and stories he leaves behind. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. As we remember him, we celebrate his life and honor his contributions to our lives. His spirit will live forever in our hearts.
