Richard's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Meade, Jr., after a battle with cancer. Born on May 12, 1967, Richard’s journey through life ended on December 21, 2023. His spirit will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
Richard was predeceased by his father, Richard Meade, Sr., his mother, Edna Meade, and his sisters Lynne Meade and Kathy Meade Pegan. Despite these losses earlier in life, Richard found joy in the company of his surviving brother, David Meade and his sister-in-law, Jo Meade, dear friends Karen Brandenburg and LauraJo Garrett. His memory will also live on in his son, Caleb Iles, as well as his nieces Kelsey Lippert and Amber Benavides and his nephew, Tyler Pegan.
An avid boater and fisherman, Richard was happiest when he was on the water. His love for these recreational activities was a key part of his identity and brought him immeasurable joy. But it wasn't just the water where Richard felt at home, he had a knack for fixing any type of engine, and was very mechanically inclined.
One of Richard's greatest accomplishments was the strength of his Christian faith. He found peace and purpose in the knowledge that he was saved by Christ and often talked of his beliefs with grace. Richard also served as a peer mentor, counseling others to strive for goodness in their lives. His kindness and generosity of spirit left an impression on everyone he interacted with.
Richard's legacy is one of love and kindness. His good heart and cheerful disposition were his trademark qualities and will be profoundly missed by all. His passing has left a void in our lives and our hearts.
Richard, we will forever treasure you in our memories. Our hearts are heavy with grief but we know that you are at peace. Until we meet again, rest in the calm and tranquility of the open waters you loved so much.
