Bobby's obituary

The family of Robert McNamara, 72, is deeply saddened to announce his passing early Thursday June 1, 2023, after a short illness.

 Family members and his long term partner, Mary, were by his side when he passed. The cornerstones of his life were his partner, family, and his strong faith.

Robert was born on September 27th, 1951, in Woonsocket Rhode Island. He was the one and only son of the late Adrien and Betty, who devoted their life to loving him.

Robert graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy and was a member of the school’s hockey team and the school band. Richard graduated from Hill College and also joined the U.S.Navy and served for 10 years.

At 62 years old, Robert retired into a healthy lifestyle playing golf and teaching college basketball. He always welcomed friends and family to his home and traveled south most summers to enjoy time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert lived life passionately, pouring himself into reading, hunting, fishing, and learning new skills.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Kristin Burton. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren; Chelsea McNamara, Brianna McNamara, and Shannon Burton. He was also the proud great grandfather of 5 great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace Robert, embrace your family and friends who have gone before you. We cherish the time we had with you and you will be lovingly missed by all who knew you. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Foster Volunteer Fire Company, 5 Mt. Hygeia Road, Foster, RI 02825 or Scituate Senior Center, 1315 Chopmist Hill Road, North Scituate, RI 02857, will be appreciated.
