Richard A. Lopes, 69 years old, of Medford, MA passed away on November 13, 2024.

Born April 13, 1956 in Cambridge, MA to parents John P. Lopes and Angelina J. (Miceli)

Lopes.

Graduated from St. Mary’s Annunciation High School, Cambridge, MA in 1974.

Richard is predeceased by sister AnneMarie (Lopes) Gallagher, and brother John P. Lopes Jr.

He is survived by his son Joshua of Medford, MA, and son Noe, daughter-in-law Kim

Mitchell, granddaughter Josephine Lopes of Mansfield, CT, and sister Irene (Lopes)

Fitzgerald of Manchester, CT.

Richard was born and raised in Cambridge, MA. He attended UMASS for a few semesters,

after which time he made a shift to Culinary School.

Richard possessed a curiosity and open mind that led him down many rabbit holes: world

history, vintage movies, Boston sports, Irish music and set dancing, and alien conspiracies,

to name a few. Nothing was off limits.

Richard spent his career as a chef, utilizing his openness and willingness to learn several

styles of cooking while spreading his humor and wit as he created incredible cuisine. To

know Richard was to be laughing, well fed, and enjoying a pint. He loved travelling

throughout New England, as well as Ireland and Canada.
