I was terrified as an 9yr old going to the 4th grade and getting of all teachers Mr.Hamm!!! That was 34 years ago.  And I can honestly say I remember him as being one of the best teachers I ever had.  As an adult,  I can say with absolute certainty that he was also one of the best people I ever knew.  He had a passion and assurance of purpose that most people are still seeking.  He took pride in his students and he had integrity beyond reproach.  He is and has been an example of excellence I myself strive to achieve.  He didn't just teach us subjects.  He taught us to be better people. His lessons stayed with you beyond the classroom. He is truly a loss.  I wish there were more teachers like him today.
My condolences to Richard's family. I first met Richard when [ describe how you know each other ] and we would often [ include common activities together ].

I was a student of Mr Hamm back in 2002. I visited him one time when I graduated high school and shared my dreams for the future. Everyone said he was the most terrifying teacher at Garden Villas, but it was not true. I found he was the most compassionate and dedicated to his job. He helped me get through the beginning of my parents divorce and consoled my mother when she broke down during a meeting. He solidified himself as my favorite teacher of all time, even now at the age of 32 I remember him fondly, and wished I had visited him before his retirement or even after so that I may share with him the progress I have made in life. I now work in law enforcement and carry the lessons he did with me today.

Thank you Mr.Hamm myself and my brother miss you dearly you impacted our lives so deeply. I always speak of your lessons even before your passing you always said ur not just a teacher your a “Life Teacher” and if you could change one life then your job here on earth is done. Thank you for giving me values my own family could not give me and you did it your job is complete, thank you for changing our lives we are both now successful business owners 5th grade changed me forever

    Love, Kristal Garcia

I was so sad to hear about his passing earlier this year I was looking at garden villas memories and came across this he was my 5th grade teacher (I am now a college student for reference) and he was so amazing at his job that I fell in love with math, that year I realized I was capable of so much thanks to him.

I was so sorry to hear about Richard's passing. He was my Fourth grade teacher over 30 years ago. He was also my FAVORITE Teacher. His passion and dedication to teaching gave me a great foundation. The successes that I have achieved are the result of that foundation.

Mr. HAMM, you will always be my FAVORITE TEACHER.

Me. Hamm was a deeply devoted teacher and a caring, encouraging co-worker.  He taught my niece and nephew.  He was so encouraging and supportive to them just when they needed it most.  Thank you Mr. Hamm - you will be sorely missed.  Well done good and faithful servant.  Enjoy your rest.

My Family and I offer our deepest condolences to the family.  May God’s peace and comfort rest on you all.
