So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a wonderful friend when we lived in Lexington.
My love and deepest sympathies to Bonnie and the family. I was so saddened to hear about Richard. He was such a dear and amazing brother who was always kind and encouraging. He was a true spiritual giant and set a fine example for us alk as he closely walked in Jesus' footsteps. He will be dearly missed, but we all know he will awaken soon in the new world.
I am sorry for your hurt in your heart & thoughts of missing  him.  He is not lost but in Paradise of Sleep and into Jehovah's book of remembrance ... Mal 3:16.  He was a fine example of Isaiah 43:10.  May we be so blessed.  Praise Jah!

Hello Bonnie, Mark, Shane, Chance, Kim, Robin, Celine!

My sincere condolences in your loss of Brother Thompson.  I fondly remember him and all of you from the good ol days of the early 80's in Brownsville, Texas.  May Jehovah strengthen all you during this very difficult time.  May the hope of seeing Dick again in the resurrection keep you strong.

Christian love,

Steve Smith

Like the prophet Daniel, Dick was a diligent student of the Bible.  He was my role model.  This “very precious man “ will be deeply missed.

A great spiritual presence in my life from my first greeting the tall red headed man in his short travel trailer when I was 8 years old and every other time we saw each other

I would love to find out about his youth and early man hood experiences that brought to us a youthful but  qualified older man as our circuit overseer in the 60s

All our heavenly Fathers comfort to the family and best wishes from my family

Thanks , Steve

Dick was my spiritual father and the greatest imitator of Jesus that I know of. A great teacher and the kindest person I ever met. He always had something positive to say.  My husband and I loved him so very much.
From calling him Br Thompson as CO when we first met, to calling him “Uncle Dick” for 2 months as we traveled throughout Mexico & attending International convention in 1966, our families grew close. To top it off, he insisted on introducing me to my perfect match,(his words) my wonderful husband of 54 years. He will be missed! We look forward to welcoming him back with hugs and memories to share.

Just heard of Richard's death. Someone who had an immeasurable affect on a teenager and the spiritual path that I have continued.  He served and is now awaiting that Paradise and I pray I will be privileged to see him again.  May Jehovah comfort his family and close friends.  Terry Dodson

DearestThompson family,

I met Dick soon after my arrival in Kentucky in 1982.  Whenever our paths  crossed he had a ready smile and loving greeting.   When we conversed, it was always spiritually encouraging.   Even though I had to leave Kentucky to take care of my mom, fond memories still remain.  When I think of brothers who were dedicated to shepherding, Dick comes to mind.  It is truly comforting to know that this loss to our theocratic family is temporary.

I was able to see and converse with Brother Thompson at his stay in Georgetown Ky. while visiting another sister. Ever since I’ve been blessed to know him it’s always been a joy to be around him. He always gave off positive spiritual and encouraging vibes. I am glad he is now resting and not experiencing no more pain nor sickness. My heart goes out to his wife Bonnie and children and family. He will be dearly missed but looking forward to seeing him again!
In response to "When was the last time you spent time with Richard?"

Phil and I are sorry to learn of his passing.  We had many happy times with the family in Versailles.

Thoughts and prayers to all the family.

Charlotte and Phil Pierce

My thoughts! Where do I begin? Richard was like a dad to me. Whenever I a had a question, he was there with me the answer or guidance. I could see his mind working to apply the best answer. He was always polite with that beaming smile. Never complained about anything. When I felt I was going to take a day off from field service and I think about the tenacity Richard portrayed, I had no excuse not to get motivated. I’m going to miss you big time but, you will always be with me.

Much love to the family.

Eph. 4:8….he gave gifts in men.”

Jehovah gives gifts, and he gives GIFTS.  Richard was truly a GIFT.  He was the first Circuit Overseer I truly remember, and the first I ever took as a role model. He was an independent thinker who took Jesus Christ as his model, and had true faith in Jehovah our maker. He lives now in our memory, as he died in our father’s!
