Richard Dowell, 75, of Strongsville, Ohio passed away on April 3rd, 2022 of glioblastoma.

Richard was born on June 6th, 1946 to James and Irene Dowell in Parma, Ohio. After graduating from Parma Senior High in 1964, he went on to study aerospace engineering at Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, California.

After graduating, he moved back to the Cleveland area, got himself a 1969 Corvette Stingray and met his wife Lynne of 47 years. They married in 1971 and went on to have two children, Aaron and Kate.

Rich or “Richie” spent 40 years of his career with SK Wellman as Vice President of Research and Development, retiring in 2014 after living in China for 5 years. He traveled extensively in Europe and Asia throughout his career. During his life and retirement Richie was an avid golfer, with 6 holes in ones.

Richard was a beloved and caring father, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his wife Lynne and is survived by his son Aaron (Denise), daughter Kate (Ellis), sister Pam, brother Roger (Roseanne), many nieces and nephews and close friends.

To say he will be missed is an understatement. He brought kindness to every occasion, made a friend wherever he went, and created many great memories with those he spent time with.

Services are TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parma Animal Shelter.
